What is Mop Lift Technology?
Automatic mop raising for carpets
Overview
Mop lift technology automatically raises the mopping pads when the robot detects carpet. This prevents wet mops from dragging across your carpets and rugs, allowing the robot to seamlessly transition between hard floors and carpeted areas without manual intervention.
Why It Matters for Indian Homes
Many Indian homes have a mix of tile/marble floors and rugs or carpeted areas. Without mop lift, you'd need to manually remove the mop attachment before the robot cleans carpeted areas. Mop lift enables true hands-free cleaning of your entire home in a single session.
How It Works
The robot uses ultrasonic sensors or dedicated carpet detection sensors to identify carpet surfaces. When carpet is detected, a mechanical system lifts the mop pads 5-12mm above the ground. Some premium models like the Ecovacs X5 Omni lift up to 12mm, while others lift 5-7mm.
✅ Advantages
- Seamless hard floor and carpet cleaning
- Protects carpets from getting wet
- True hands-free whole-home cleaning

- Often combined with carpet boost for deeper cleaning
⚠️ Limitations
- Lift height varies (5-12mm) — may not clear thick rugs
- Not available on budget models
- Mechanical system adds slight complexity
- Some models only lift on one side
